İstinye University Management Information Systems Department Head, Data Science USA Assoc.Dr.Şebnem Özdemir received her undergraduate degree from Yıldız Technical University, Department of Mathematics.He completed two master's degrees at Istanbul University, one in Mathematics Education and the other in Informatics.He received his doctorate degree from Istanbul University, Department of Informatics.For his postdoctoral research, he worked as a researcher in the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI).Later, he moved to MIT CSAIL and continued his studies in the field of artificial intelligence there.Özdemir currently serves as the head of the Department of Management Information Systems at İstinye University and continues to serve as the head of the Department of Data Science.He is the founder of Usight Software and Artificial Intelligence Technologies company.With the machine learning model he developed in 2016, he was deemed worthy of the "Human Development Research Award" given by Koç University UNESCO Chair, the "Leader Award Creating Awareness in the Field of Artificial Intelligence" by CIO Turkey in 2020, and the "Artificial Intelligence in the Field of Social Benefit" award by the International Barrier-Free Information Platform in 2021.Assoc.Dr.Özdemir has worked as a manager, consultant and researcher in many national and international projects focused on data science and artificial intelligence, and has many book chapters, articles and patents published on national and international platforms.His main research areas are artificial intelligence, data science, management information systems, decision making and mathematical modelling.
